Yeast infection in babies is very common, and they typically occur in two places of the body; in the mouth and the genital area; although, infants can have these infections on other parts of their bodies as well.

The oral thrush yeast infections

This infection in the mouth can occur mainly due to the use of antibiotics, though they may have occurred from infections of other parts of the body. In such cases, there are white lesions on the tongue, inner cheek or gums of the baby. From time to time, your infants may suffer from the tender sores that usually occur on the corners of their mouth.

One common yeast infection in babies is oral thrush. Because of these oral infections, the baby will have a painful and reddish tongue, and if by mistake, the lesions get scratched, it will bleed. And consequently, you cannot feed the baby properly, and they will be petulant because of pain.

The oral yeast infections can be treated in various ways. For instance, if the mother has an infection, then she should not breastfeed her baby until her infections are cured. You must keep all the nursing equipment like bottles, breast pumps, nipples as well as the pacifiers extremely clean.

You should sanitize the toys of your baby so that if he or she put the toys in mouth, they don’t get any negative reaction. Besides this, you must take your baby to the pediatrician and apply for the liquid medicine following his advice. And, you should also use the baby mittens to prevent your baby from sucking fingers. This will certainly help in reducing the oral thrush.

Diaper Rash Yeast Infections

These types of yeast infections are extremely familiar in the babies as they use the diaper on a regular basis. In such cases, pinkish or reddish rashes that are slightly raised appear in the area where the diaper is used. In most of the cases, the groin will have a red swelling effect that causes extreme irritation to the infant.

Sometimes, this infection may spread from the pubic region to the groin as well as thighs along with its upper portion, abdomen, and buttocks. It may also have appeared as a secondary infection. Suppose, your baby is suffering from the oral infection, he or she can have diaper rash yeast infection on his or her body.

To cure these rashes, first, you must keep your baby clean and the affected area dry. Give them bath regularly and use talcum powder.
You should dress your infants in loose clothes.
It is very beneficial if you keep your baby without any clothing during the warm hours.

There is some effective, popular yeast treatment for babies that can be bought over the counter but the doctor can clearly tell you which cream should you use seeing the conditions of the rashes. Some of the common medicines that are used to heal the infections are Pedi-Dri, Nystatin Ointment, Mycostatin as well as Mycostatin Pastilles.
